Summer Enrichment Day Camp Program

Dear Cub Scout Leaders,

We hope this notice finds you and your Scouts in great spirits and eager for an adventurous summer! We are thrilled to share an exciting announcement that will make your summer even more memorable. The Connecticut Rivers Council is delighted to inform you that we have been awarded a state-funded grant, allowing us to offer half off Cub Scout Day Camp for the summer of 2024!

This incredible opportunity has been made possible through the generous support of the Connecticut State Department of Education Summer Enrichment Grants. We firmly believe that every Cub Scout deserves the chance to experience the joy, learning, and camaraderie that Cub Scout Day Camp provides, regardless of financial constraints.

Here are some key details about this fantastic program:

  • Because of the specifics of the grant we can’t offer a refund for those who already paid.  After all this grant is specifically for families who may not be able to fund summer camp for their camper(s) on their own. However, we will be able to offer a second week for half off for those Scouts who already signed up.
  • Dates and Location: The “half off” Cub Scout Day Camp will be held at all of our sessions at Mattatuck and JNW. These were the only programs accepted this year.  Camp Workcoeman will have camperships available through their camp alumni group.  Please reach out to Tom Leisten at tleisten@campworkcoeman.org for Camp Workcoeman campership opportunities. It will be a summer filled with adventure, skill-building activities, and the chance to make lifelong friends.
  • Activities and Programs: Our dedicated camp staff has planned an exciting range of activities to engage and challenge our Cub Scouts. From nature hikes and archery to crafts and games, every day will be packed with new experiences and opportunities for growth.
  • Professional Staff and Volunteer Support: Our camp staff comprises trained professionals who are passionate about creating a safe and enjoyable environment for your Cub Scouts. We will also have a team of enthusiastic volunteers ready to assist and guide the Scouts throughout the entire camp experience.
  • Financial Accessibility: With the state-funded grant, we are able to waive the registration fees for 150 Cub Scouts.
  • Registration Process: To secure a spot for your Cub Scout Day Camp, please visit our website, ctscouting.org, and complete online registration. Spaces are limited, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible.  Registration opens Monday, May 6th!
  • The Boy Scouts of America Day Camp program is only for Scouts going into the 2nd-5th grade. Scouts going into first grade can also participate but only if an adult accompanies them the whole week.

We are grateful for the opportunity to bring this incredible program to our council, and we hope that you and your Cub Scout will take full advantage of this special offer. Let’s make summer 2024 a memorable one for all our Cub Scouts in the Connecticut Rivers Council!

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our camp assistant at michele.soboslai@scouting.org. We are here to support you and ensure a fantastic camp experience for your Cub Scout.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the scouting community. We look forward to welcoming your Cub Scout to the half off Cub Scout Day Camp this summer!

Yours in Scouting,
