Specialty Awards

The Nova and Supernova awards are STEM awards.  All Scouting leaders can sign off for the Nova requirements and for Supernova a Scout must work with an Council approved Nova counselor.  Each district advancement chair will oversee the awards approval.  To find out more information go to the Nova national page in the link below.

Hornaday Award

Conservation and the Boy Scouts of America have been partners for a long time. Camping, hiking, and respect for the outdoors are a part of the Scouting heritage. Many of the requirements for advancement from Tenderfoot through Eagle Scout rank call for an increasing awareness and understanding of the natural sciences. Many former Scouts have become leaders in conserving our environment and protecting it from abuse. Right now Scouts are involved in learning about environmental problems and actively working to make a difference.

William T. Hornaday Awards

William H. Spurgeon III Award

The William H. Spurgeon III Award is the highest recognition for individuals and organizations contributing significant leadership to the Exploring program.  If you know someone that has dynamically affected the Exploring program in the Council they could be eligible for the Spurgeon Award.  This award can be given out annually at the Council Recognition Dinner.  For application and more information click the link below.

Training Awards

If you or your unit has filled out training award applications,  make sure they get signed and turned into your District’s Training chair.  Training awards once approved  can presented at local unit meeting or at the annual District Dinner.
